It is always busy here, and the past several weeks have been no exception. While unusual rain and hurricanes created increased attention needed to our grounds, we continue our work to make VCC better than ever and to keep you informed about “What’s Going On” behind the scenes and between our meetings. As always, if reading this brings questions, concerns, or comments to mind, please contact us at: [email protected]. Your Master Board October 2024

WHAT’S GOING ON?

We thank Steve Zielinski for his many years of service on the Master Board. He must leave the board due to ownership rules, but has volunteered to continue to serve in support of many of our initiatives. Thank you, Steve!

1. We have appointed Michelle Suarez as a new board member at large to replace the vacancy left by Steve Zielinski. Michelle will fulfill Steve’s term which ends in March of 2025. Welcome, Michelle, and thank you for serving.

2. We thank Kristen Elliott who has agreed to serve as Secretary upon Michelle’s move. And we appreciate Kathy McElroy for serving as Assistant Secretary in Kristen’s place.

3. The new front door has received permitting and been installed and painted. The windows provide a much safer entrance and exit as we can now see each other coming and going before opening the door.

4. We are still waiting for permits for our handrails. You can imagine how busy the Village of Estero is after back-to-back storms, but our General Manager is in contact with them at least once a week to try to move our request forward.

5. The improved website is completed and will be released by the end of October. Please take some time to click around and let us know of any problems you find. We have tried to troubleshoot descriptions, directions, links, and listings, but let us know if you find a glitch. We offer a special thank you to Jim Luzzi for donating some of his absolutely incredible photographs to add color and beauty to the site.

6. We have received the finalized Reserve Study, and it has been examined in great detail by the Master Board, the General Manager, and our Finance Committee. The study is serving as an integral part of planning for VCC’s immediate needs and future projects.

7. Now that we have examined our financial status in detail, we are ready to look at remodeling of the clubhouse, the main pool, and the patio area, as well as mobile food opportunities. The Facilities Committee will be taking the lead on this with contributions from the Ad Hoc Committee and from members. Watch your email and the website for upcoming open forum meeting dates.

8. Thanks to the hard work and many, many hours donated by our Treasurer and Finance Committee, our General Manager and staff leaders, and every single volunteer committee, we have established a 2025 budget. Our Treasurer and Finance Committee volunteers are hosting an open meeting to explain in detail every aspect of the new budget. It’s very important that members attend the meeting so we all understand our financial status. On the Master Board, we appreciate a good tune and a sense of humor, so this month we offer lyrics from the Scorpions (1997). “The future’s in the air, I can feel it everywhere, Blowing with the wind of change.” We are excited about the future for VCC, so we’re embracing the wind of change happening here. Hope you feel the same!
