HELLO AND HAPPY 2026 TO OUR VCC COMMUNITY
As we begin the new year, the Common Grounds Committee remains not only focused on maintaining the beauty of our community through on-going projects such as cleaning up berms and swales, maintaining manicured grass areas, and tending to our trees and ponds, but also on enhancing our community’s attractiveness. We thought you may be interested in learning about a few of the beautification projects that have been selected for 2026. There were many factors considered in identifying and selecting the 2026 projects. And, as we all know, even with the best laid plans, adjustments may need to be made along the way. But, with that said, following are a few areas to be worked/enhanced this calendar year:
• Corkscrew Entrance: Redesign the landscaping along the entry/exit drives, the sidewalks, and the medians to capitalize on the configuration of the arched wall and the beautiful live oak canopy entrance. The landscaping is to be replaced with a sustainable design that is compatible with the soil, drainage, sunlight and available water sources along our main entrance.
• Three Oaks (Side) Entrance: Redesign the landscaping along Three Oaks entry/exit and through our side gates. Replace the thinning or dead shrubs with plantings that are compatible with the soil, drainage, sunlight, available water sources, and roadway emissions.
• Country Creek Drive: Remove dead or dying landscaping and replace with sustainable landscape:
• Intersections/Entrance from Old Oak Place around to Butcher’s Holler: install new landscape to improve line of sight for traffic.
• Along Country Creek Drive, in front of the condo buildings, remove the dead/unhealthy hedges to improve curb appeal.
• Old Oak Place to Oxbow Bend intersection: remove/treat the invasive vines and overgrowth; replace pine straw with stone adding to curb appeal.
• Cul-de-sacs: Continue the work of clearing out the dead plants and invasive vines.
• Satellite Swimming Pools: Remove dead plants and invasive vines on the hedges; replace the removed plants with draught resistance plants that are suited for soil, available water sources, and growing conditions.
As these projects are started/completed, we will include those updates in the monthly Villager articles. As we are planning on starting these projects, we would like to say thank you, in advance, to our VCC Volunteers and Deadheaders. Without these two groups of volunteers, our projects would be much more limited in scope and quantity.
