Happy New Year! We hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are ready for some great golf. We started the season off in great fashion with our first luncheon of the season. It was an ABCD scramble that was won by the team of Scott Chenet, Bill Rooney, Tony Fiasconaro and Tony Innocente. Closet to the hole was won by Joe Fox from the blue tees and Joe Mazzant from the whites. After golf we were treated to a delicious turkey dinner by Rafael and his crew.
Our first major tournament of the year was the Ravis Prueitt Match Play. It started on November 5 with 15 teams. It was a fun event with some fine play and sportsmanship. The final came down to Ken Crimmins and Guy Gibson vs. Rich Reid and Bob Sandhas. Rich and Bob were up 3 after 14 but Ken and Guy weren’t about to throw in the towel. Ken won the 15th hole with a net birdie. Guy then made a 20-foot birdie putt on 16 to cut the lead to one. Rich then hit his tee shot on 17 to inside 2 feet and made the birdie to ice the match.
One note about etiquette. Please be aware that when people are teeing off on the first hole, try to keep the noise down. It’s very easy to start chatting on the putting green and that can become a distraction to those teeing off. Also, let’s limit the carts next to the tee to the groups teeing off. Please keep your cart on the bridge until your group is up.
